Samsung’s new Galaxy A-Series want to make budget phones cool again
Smartphone makers seem to be in their affordable phone era.
Apple began by defining "budget" with the iPhone 16e, which retailed for $599. We anticipate seeing Google's version (Pixel 9a) shortly, possibly at the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC).
However, Samsung just released its answer in the form of the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26, which are low-cost phones with AI capabilities without the premium pricing. Here is a comparison of the three.
A 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens (for the three users) are included in the camera. Additionally, the A56's selfie camera has been upgraded from the 32MP A55 to 12MP, and it now supports HDR video for enhanced low-light photography.
Additionally, "Awesome Intelligence" is essentially Galaxy AI-lite. It has features like Object Eraser and Best Face, which replaces faces in group shots if someone blinks, similar to Google's Best Take on the Pixel series.
But if $499 is pushing it, the more cheap A36 ($399) and A26 ($299) come with the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 5,000mAh battery, and IP67 water protection. But that's where the parallels stop.
