Trump will sent a US mission to Pakistan in order to Iran has talks
President Donald Trump has declared that American negotiators would visit Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Monday in hopes of holding discussions to put an end to the US-Israel assault on Iran.
Trump did not specify which US officials will be sent to a possible second round of face-to-face negotiations with Iranian negotiators in Islamabad in a social media post on Sunday. Vice President JD Vance led the US team in negotiations last weekend, but no agreement was reached.
Trump accused Iran of firing on Saturday in the Strait of Hormuz, breaking a two-week truce that is set to expire on Wednesday. If Iran rejects the conditions of the US-offered agreement, the US president has threatened to destroy civilian infrastructure in Iran.
Trump stated on his Truth Social platform, "We're offering a very fair and reasonable deal, and I hope they take it because, if they don't, the United States is going to knock out every single power plant and every single bridge in Iran."
The future of Iran's nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz continue to be major issues of contention in the talks.
Although there was "significant progress made" during negotiations last weekend, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that a framework of agreement must be agreed upon before they proceed. Additionally, he referred to US demands on Iran's nuclear program as "maximalist."
"There are many gaps and some fundamental points remain," stated Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, on Saturday night. "We are still far from the final discussion," he added.
